Pui
Ching College of Commerce has passed an unusual course during
the past five years. Here, on behalf of the board of trustees
and executives, i would like to extend my cordial regards
to the staff, students and alumni. I would like to express
my sincere gratitude to the higher authorities for their enthusiastic
support. I would like to thank my colleagues and friends of
all circles for their unselfish contributions over the past
five years of our growth and progress.
We
will present to you a picture of the past five years' accomplishments
and rapid development of our college. We hope we can be better
understood, concerned and supported by all enthusiasts from
home and abroad. Pui Ching College of Commerce emerged at
the historic moment that China became open to the outside
world. In the five years, the school has been supported by
concerned leaders, especially those from the Higher Education
Department of Guangdong, and guided by the principle of instruction
and construction at the same time!
In
1993, we experienced the difficult period of the college's
reliance on borrowing school housing and enrolling students
at other colleges; the regular period saw the college's approval
by the provincial government and the opening of a new campus
in 1996. The rapid development period, 1998, included the
registration with the State Education Commission and the schools
authority to register students internally. In 1998 the college
was awarded the title of National Advanced Private College
by the National Committee of Private Education.
Pui
Ching College of Commerce is now ranked among the top of more
than 2,000 colleges in China. the college has been a grateful
recipient of considerable donations from the alumni of Pui
Ching Middle School, which has a glorious history of over
100 years. Now the campus buildings, which were donated by
Pui Ching alumni and education philanthropists, enjoy exceptional
advantages, making teaching facilities the best among private
colleges.
For
five years, we have been adhering to the school's running
principle -- reform to accelerate the establishment and development
of the college. We are carrying out reforms in three areas
-- credit system, contract system, and the rear-service socialization.
The college's emphasis on teaching English and computer applications
has achieved initial success. the graduates from our college
are warmly welcomed by many companies and our employment rate
has reached 100 percent. Currently, we are carrying out the
"reform to accelerate development" policy. We are strengthening
the students' ability to make themselves refined people, speeding
up the cooperation with colleges of developed countries. We
have established relationships with colleges in Canada, Singapore,
Australia and England. The students of our college have the
opportunity to study abroad and receive a university diploma
that is recognized throughout the world.
The
management of our college implements the policies of the president,
under the guidance of the trustees. This year, the college
began to search for senior faculty in China, resulting in
38 new faculty members. Some of them have doctor degrees,
master degrees, double-bachelor degrees and some also have
MBA degrees from the United States. Continually strengthening
the organization of our staff, the school has developed a
second line of leaders and attained transformation from part-time
to full-time employment. Also, the college has set up an administrative
structure of seven departments and one teaching group which
has dramatically improved the college's administration. Now
the college is making regulations concerning work stipulations
and standardization so as to contribute to the implementation
of college work, through the strengthening the organization
of the staff, perfecting, standardizing and forming a complete
set of teaching facilities. Our college is hoping to realize
the second five-year plan by laying a solid foundation for
the remarkable growth of future enrollment of more than 3,000
students.
In
the last five pioneering years, we had a lot of hardships
and difficulties. And now we can proudly say, the development
is rapid and remarkable. We cherish a bright future and a
great leap forward after five years' pioneering work. Our
college is facing the opportunity of fantastic development.
We are very confident, with Party's guidance, the enthusiastic
support from Pui Ching alumni, the unselfish help of kind
people from all walks of life and the whole-hearted effort
from Pui Ching staff. It will ensure a distinguished and successful
college in the future.
